Adversity, Trauma, Stress, and the Developing Brain (Virtual)
October 27 @ 9:00 am – 12:00 pm
This session examines how adversity, chronic stress, and potentially traumatic experiences can affect regulation, attention, memory, relationships, behavior, and learning. Participants learn core trauma-informed principles while also addressing an important caution: challenging behavior should not automatically be interpreted as evidence of trauma. The session emphasizes inquiry, context, protective factors, relationships, and multiple possible explanations for behavior. Participants practice shifting from asking “What is wrong with this young person?” toward asking what may have happened, what the behavior may be communicating, and what supports may be needed.
Free, registration required.
