Implicit Bias, Assumptions, and Professional Decision-Making Workshop (Virtual)
October 22 @ 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm
This session explores how automatic associations, assumptions, and cognitive shortcuts can influence professional decisions even when individuals intend to be fair and supportive. Participants examine implicit bias, schemas, attribution bias, confirmation bias, and other factors that can affect interpretations of youth and family behavior. Particular attention is given to high-discretion decisions such as discipline, referrals, interventions, family communication, access to services, and documentation. Participants learn practical strategies for interrupting bias and making more reflective, evidence-informed decisions.
Free, registration required.
