By the end of Day 3\, it is anticipated that participants will have a solid understanding of how MI can help guide individuals toward making meaningful changes in their lives. Participants will examine the principles of victim-centered practice\, explore barriers to victim participation\, and learn strategies to create safe\, supportive\, and trauma-informed spaces. Through case studies\, reflective dialogue\, and practical exercises\, attendees will gain a deeper understanding of what genuine victim engagement looks like and how to balance accountability\, repair\, and healing within restorative frameworks. (Eligible for 12 CECs) \n\n\n\nEligibility: \n\n\n\n1.  JRB/YDT Facilitator or Case Managers only2.  Have previously taken RJ 101 and 2013.  Must attend both days of training

DESCRIPTION:In this virtual session\, we will deconstruct the juvenile justice system (why and how it is often harmful)\, and how we then replicate many of its elements in our diversion processes. We will see how Restorative Justice speaks to the failures of our justice system and allows us to operate in a way that is consistent with research about how the developing minds of young people work. We will also explore how trauma interrupts development and impacts children’s behavior. This session will give participants a deeper understanding of what restorative justice is and how it differs from our traditional systems while still getting the outcomes we want.
