From Exclusion to Belonging: Creating Environments Where Youth Can Thrive (Virtual)
November 5 @ 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm
This session examines belonging and connectedness as important conditions for healthy youth development, participation, learning, and well-being. Participants distinguish among physical access, inclusion, participation, and genuine belonging. They examine how exclusionary practices, disciplinary responses, inaccessible environments, deficit labeling, language barriers, and limited youth voice can affect young people’s experiences. Participants learn to assess environments through the perspective of youth and identify concrete strategies for strengthening relationships, voice, participation, representation, and equitable access.
Free, registration required.
